Roman blinds: frequently asked questions

Can Roman blinds have blackout lining?

Blackout lining can help reduce light passing through a Roman blind. Ask which lining options are available with your chosen fabric. The fit still matters: light may enter around the edges, even with blackout lining.

Should Roman blinds go inside or outside the recess?

Both arrangements are possible where there is enough space. A Roman blind folds into a stack when raised, so we consider how much glass it will cover and whether it could obstruct the window opening or handles.

Can Roman blinds be fitted in a bay window?

They may be suitable, but each section and angle needs measuring carefully. We check how neighbouring blinds and their folds will sit together, along with handles and opening clearance, before recommending a layout.
