Hi I’m Nick from Stratford blinds. We’re going to take a look how to measure for venetian blinds.
Venetian blinds are a beautiful way to give seclusion to any window, but they’re also a fantastic way to add design flare to any area.
Swapping or personalizing these blinds may be a wonderful method to rejuvenate the look of your space throughout the year, so let’s get started.
What you’re going to need to measure the window.
To measure for your venetian blind you’re going to need:
- a metal tape measure
- a pencil
- a pad
Let’s start measuring.
Before we get started, let’s first figure out where we’ll be installing the window blinds. There are two methods to install a blind on any window, whether it’s inside or outside of the recess; as long as your windows open outwardly or doors slide open, you may do it either way.
If you have a window recess or recess width of around six centimeters or more then you should be looking to use inside the recess or recessed fit option. This is the most common way to fit blinds to any window.
If your windows open inwards or your recesses are shallower than six centimeters then an outside the recess or exact measurement may be the best option for you.
In this scenario we recommend you add six centimeters all the way around the recess of the window.
Also if your window sill protrudes away from the wall this will be a good choice for you as the window sill edge will fit flush
The most common blind measurement
The most common way is inside the recess. Start by measuring the width don’t just measure to the edge of the window panels the window frames measure all the way to the edge of the window recess.
Take three measurements, measuring from the top to the middle, and then one lower down. Now repeat for height or depth.
Use the smallest measurement to ensure you get a consistent fit along the entire recess of the window.
When ordering, don’t forget to select whether you need inside or outside the recessed blinds and on which side you would like to put the blinds controls on.
